Never report while moving. Pull over safely first.
A report thirty seconds later still warns the driver behind you. A collision does not.
If an animal is in your path
- Brake firmly and stay in your lane. Swerving into oncoming traffic or a ditch is what turns a wildlife strike into a serious collision.
- Where one deer crosses, expect more behind it.
- Dawn and dusk are the highest-risk hours, and autumn is the highest-risk season.
- If you do hit an animal, get well off the road, put your hazards on, and call police or the OPP. Do not approach an injured large animal.
Using WARN hands-free
- Turn on audio alerts in settings — you will hear the severity, not read it.
- Vibration patterns differ by severity, so an alert is meaningful in your pocket.
- Passengers make the best reporters. Hand them the phone.
- Notification buttons let you answer "still there" or "all clear" without opening WARN.
WARN is a community warning tool. It is not a substitute for attentive driving, posted signage, or official road reports.
